The industrial revolution and development of artillery forced Prussian country to modernize the fortress intensely. Cannons of rifled barrel had a wide range and destructive power. Therefore, by the end of 80’s of the 19th century, a decision was made to build infantry shelters which were to serve as a shield against artillery fire for a part of the crew. The presented shelter is one of five objects of this type built within the area of the Boyen Fortress.
